Learning Objectives
At the end of this lesson, you must be able to:
1. characterize the phases of the cell cycle and their
controlpoints;
2. describe the stages of mitosis/meiosis given 2n = 6; and
3. discuss crossing over and recombinaon in meiosis.
Cellular reproducon involves two important processes: cell growth and
cell division. During cell growth, a cell doubles its contents, including the
organelles and its DNA. Then during cell division, the DNA and other cellular
contents of the parent cell are distributed into the daughter cells.
