It's Time to Celebrate - Member Spotlight

Congratulations Michael Ostacher, MD, MPH – NCPS
                                President-Elect / Treasurer

“As President-Elect, I welcome the opportunity to continue serving the NCPS.
In my role as NCPS Treasurer these past two years I have helped guide the Society to
remain a vibrant, active, and fiscally-sound organization, providing educational, job-
oriented, and early career programming; local advocacy; and representation at the
national level to its members — and, most importantly, maintaining the financial
health of the Society through the struggles of the COVID-19 pandemic. I will even
more strongly embrace the role of President-Elect, preparing to lead the organization
                                and advance its mission.
Since coming to Stanford and the VA Palo Alto from Harvard and MGH in 2010, I have continued my work
treating and studying patients with mood disorders and complex comorbidities, with leadership in research,
teaching, and education at the national and international level. As the Director of the VA/Stanford Bipolar
and Depression Research Program and Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Stanford, my cur-
rent work (including my work as an addiction psychiatrist) is in bringing evidence-based practices from re-
search settings to direct practice, and I split my time between research, clinical practice, and teaching set-
tings, so feel uniquely placed to represent Northern California’s psychiatrists and their diverse interests and
practices. I was recently honored by the APA with elevation to Distinguished Life Fellow and am committed
to continuing to serve our organization.

I am honored to serve NCPS and our membership in the role of President-Elect."
