that time off charged to either PTO or leave without pay. Time off due to inclement weather is unpaid. The employee may be given the option to make up hours lost or use PTO time.
Passengers
All passengers must be pre-approved by the Safety Director. No passenger under age 10 will be allowed.
Hand Held Cell Phones
The final rule prohibits commercial drivers from using a hand-held mobile telephone while operating a commercial truck or bus. Drivers who violate the restriction will face federal civil penalties of up to $2,750 for each offense and disqualification from operating a commercial motor vehicle for multiple offenses. Additionally, states will suspend a driver's commercial driver's license (CDL) after two or more serious traffic violations. Commercial truck and bus companies that allow their drivers to use hand-held cell phones while driving will face a maximum penalty of $11,000.
The Company's policy is that all drivers abide by this law and any driver failing to abide by this law will be responsible for any fines imposed, and will face disciplinary action up to and including termination.
Drug and Alcohol Use
Drug and alcohol use is highly detrimental to the safety and productivity of employees in the workplace. No employee may be under the influence of any illicit drug or alcohol while in the workplace, while on duty, or while operating a vehicle or equipment owned or leased by the Company.
Possessing, distributing, transferring, purchasing, selling, using, or being under the influence of alcoholic beverages or illegal drugs while on the Company's property, while attending business-related activities, while on duty, or while operating a vehicle or machine leased or owned by the Company may also lead to disciplinary action, including suspension without pay or discharge. An exception to this policy regarding possessing, distributing, transferring, purchasing, selling, using, or being under the influence of alcoholic beverages may be made for an employee attending a Company sponsored function. The Company specifically requests that its employees not drink alcohol and drive.
Physician-prescribed medications are permitted, provided they do not adversely affect job performance or the safety of the employee or other individuals in the workplace.
The Company recognizes that employees may wish to seek professional assistance in overcoming drug or alcohol problems. Please contact your supervisor for more information about the benefits potentially available under the employee medical benefit plans, the Employee Assistance Program and any possible referral sources. All employees under DOT regulations must adhere to those policies.
