Clove hitch

This can be tied onto just about any object, using

any size rope. It can be tied in the bight, one-
handed, in the air, and even with your eyes closed.

The clove hitch is one of the easiest and most
versatile knots ever devised, but it’s not 100 per cent

secure, so rely on it at your peril!

1 Take a turn around the pole, or another object, and lay it diagonally

over the standing part.
