By the end of the course, students are expected to function at a Novice High proficiency level as defined by the ACTFL Proficiency Guidelines.
RECOMMENDATION: C or better in academic English.
French II 511 9-12 2 1
By the end of the course, students are expected to function at an Intermediate Low proficiency level as defined by the ACTFL Proficiency Guidelines.
PREREQUISITE: Student must have the following:
● C or better in level I.
French III 512 10-12 2 1
By the end of the course, students are expected to function at an Intermediate Mid-2 proficiency level as defined by the ACTFL Proficiency Guidelines.
PREREQUISITE: Student must have the following:
● C or better in level II.
Honors French IV 515 11-12 2 1
By the end of the course, students are expected to function at an Intermediate Mid-3 proficiency level as defined by the ACTFL Proficiency Guidelines. ​College credit (3 cr) is available for this course through the University of Pittsburgh or Seton Hill University. AP French Language and 516 12 2 1 Culture
Students who enroll in AP French Language Language and Culture should already have a good command of French grammar and vocabulary and have competence in listening, reading, speaking, and writing. The course should emphasize the use of language for active oral and written communication. Course content can reflect intellectual interests shared by the students and teacher (the arts, current events, literature, sports, etc.). The course seeks to further develop language skills (reading, writing, listening, and speaking.) Extensive training in the organization and writing of compositions is also emphasized. In order to receive weighted grading credit for the class, students must earn a B or better in the class (click ​here​ for AP policy). ​College credit (3 cr) is available for this course through the University of Pittsburgh or Seton Hill University. ● B or better in Honors French IV and recommendation from a teacher.
