Intellectual Lynch-mobs

                                                                                   An obstacle to progress

The suggestion will be abhorrent to all those involved in Human Rights campaigns,

but is it possible that a lack of maturity on your part?

 helps to generate to a lynch mob mentality ?
 has the effect, definitely unwittingly so, of cementing social conflicts? And in doing so, are
you perhaps providing fertile ground for yet another 'intractable conflict?'

Are you in the business of 'human rights' or are you in the business of improving 'human
rights' in Africa's least developed countries?

            Corporate Culture

“ Instead, the new watchword is hiring for culture add, which Lauren Shufran defines as "the
likelihood that someone will not only reflect the company's values and professional ethics but

also bring diverse opinions, experiences, and specialized skills that enhance not just the team,
but the overall company culture." Will Otto adds that "the notion behind culture add is that

diverse, self-aware teams are more powerful than homogenous ones."

Is it possible that the activism that so swelled your ranks now provides a block to your

            'coming of age'?
All organisations develop a mindset. Many organisations run the risk of a recruiting

'like-minded people'. And it would be only natural that Human Rights organisations attract

causists. But your Human Rights organisations are more grown up now - or at least should
            be.

As all of us have to do as we transition into adulthood, the simplicity of youth has to
give way to the maturity of roles such as parenthood, where we become much more

focused on the actions effect of our actions. And be prepared to modify our behaviour, not

discard our beliefs, simply adapt our behaviour, so that we optimise the development of
            those around us.

In what way can you make the most progress in Human Rights in Africa's least developed

            countries?
