member of the American Geophysical Union, the American
Meteorological Society, the Association of Computing
Machinery (ACM), ACM Special Interest Group for Computer
Graphics (as a Computer Graphics Pioneer), the Institute
of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Computer Society,
and the IBM Academy of Technology. He has won several
awards from IBM and NASA for his contributions.
