This year the National Photographic Competition and Exhibition of Photography organised by the Malta Photographic Society has reached its
rd
53 edition. It is the only photographic exhibition of its kind held on our beautiful Island, testifying its value and national relevancy. Throughout
the years, the exhibition has been able to improve its prestige embodying the satisfaction and admiration of the numerous participants coming
from all walks of life, throughout its long history.
As we all know behind the exhibition are the praiseworthy endeavours of the Society’s committee. Fifty three years is a truly prestigious goal
achieved thanks to the relentless efforts of committee members past and present as well as many other enthusiastic volunteers who are also
members of our Society.
Whilst touring the exhibition at the Cavalieri Art Hotel, you will notice some outstanding images as there were in previous years and even more
so this year. The majority of these works are by local photographic artists however I am pleased to mention that we are proud to have members
of the Society who come from other countries and whose photographs are also amongst those chosen to be exhibited in this year’s event. In
total there are 136 framed prints in the exhibition area as well as 137 projected images which can be seen on the screen.
I would like to express my appreciation to all participants and congratulate the winners, as well as those whose images or prints are displayed
in this exhibition. My heartfelt thanks goes to the Judges of this year’s competition for their commitment and dedication, as it is always a hard
task when it comes to making a selection of which photographs would form part of the exhibition as well as the winning few.
The MPS executive committee and myself are very grateful to our sponsors for their continuous support and I would also like to thank the
management of the Hotel for their help and cooperation..
