Technician Certification Levels

The following guideline applies to the Mechanical and Alternator certification levels. Technicians will be
certified based on four factors, including management appraisal, customer feedback, training classes,
and field task audits. Both mechanical and alternator certifications require some level of complete
system understanding. Holding certifications in strictly mechanical or alternator does not limit the type a
work a technician will be scheduled. Certifications will be used as a tool for service managers to
determine compensation and to assign technicians appropriately for the current workload.

                   • Experience level
o Experience level as they hire on with NES-WES.
                                  Time on job
                                         • Experience level will only play into consideration for advancement if the
technician is putting in the required effort and continuing to advance
himself. Tenure does not automatically mandate a higher certification
                                            level
                   • Jenbacher certification level
o For each certification level, Jenbacher's requirements must be met.
 Each level is a combination of field task completion, E-Trainings, and classroom
                                     training.
                                         • Service managers will be required to work closely with technicians to
appraise skill sets, outstanding tasks to be completed, and make
decisions on what field jobs the technician is prepared to handle.
                   • Internal Audit
o Once all criteria for the current level are met, the service manager can schedule the
audit process. Having all tasks complete does not mandate that an audit process will
                              proceed.
 The audit will consist of a control system understanding (specific to the current
examination being performed), hands-on, and soft skills review.
                                         • Each review will be graded, which will determine whether the
technician is qualified for the next certification level.
 To advance from A to Commissioning Engineer, the
audit will be done in the field by the Commissioning
                                                           Manager.
New technicians being hired at a level above C certification will be expected to pass the C certification
level audit within the scheduled time. Upon completion, work towards the B level certification can
begin. A complete list of requirements and audit process will be made available for technicians to
               review.
