As we all know, it has been another tough year for all
musicians not just composers. However, music in the form of
choirs and concerts is making a welcome return and we are
all very thankful for that. There were some highlights for me
even during the harder times of last year. I would like to
update you on my “Nature in Song” selection which now
comes to seven tracks. Next, my involvement in “Hymns for
the contemporary church” initiative set up by the Jubilate
organisation. Finally, I will introduce you to the latest
Christmas music and plans for the future. Happy Reading!

               Nature in Song

This initiative came out of the lockdown experience. I have
always loved nature and how God’s gift brings calm and
peace to us all. This has been even more the case this last
year. I started to reminisce about wonderful family holidays
by the sea in Scotland with seabirds all around us. As a
family, we would be up there every year enjoying these wild
places. So, my first track picked up on this. “Hear the Cry of
the Sea” evokes those fond memories. It became a real
family collaboration. Being in full lockdown, myself and my
two nephews recorded the voice parts in isolation. I then
brought all the parts together. Finally, my mum provided the
artwork for the animation. You can listen to the track below.
