MRS GILBERT: A MESSAGE FROM THE TUTOR
For the past five years, I have worked as a Year 5 class teacher in an independent school in London.
As well as being a class teacher, I have also spent over eighteen years as private tutor. In the Summer of 2020, I began to tutor online, which has been very successful. In the Summer of 2020 I also taught English webinars to over 300 students.
I work with children of all abilities and levels. I have helped children build their confidence and thrive in subjects they may have struggled with, as well as stretching those who are very able. I work closely with each child to develop a personalised plan which will enable them to fulfil their potential.
I am trained in the Sound Reading System, and can teach reading from any age, as well as help dyslexic students.
I am also very experienced in secondary school entrance exams. As a Year 5 teacher, I prepare children for 11+ exams for grammar and independent secondary schools. I work hard to ensure the children meet the standard required to pass the exams.
I have found working with children, whether individually, in small groups, or in the classroom, to be rewarding and enjoyable. I attune to their needs quickly, and therefore make efficient use of the time we spend together.
On a personal note, I love to spend time in nature, and I enjoy photography and story-writing. I have written a large number of stories for children. When I was younger I was lucky enough to spend time travelling, and I now enjoy being in touch with friends from around the world.
I look forward to assisting PTC pupils globally at primary level, working closely with them through engaging and dynamic resources aimed at improving literacy as set out in the UK curriculum. Through PTC guidance our sessions will be facilitated by the latest technology, apps and online resources.
