 HARD DRUGS
We live in a fairly upscale neighborhood. I worry about my child drinking and smoking cigarettes, but should I also be educating her about hard drugs?
At about nine or ten years of age, children should be taught about some of the hard drugs and their effects. There is the
possibility and even the probability that your child will be exposed to these drugs as well as to vaping. cigarettes and alcohol. Be sure to include some information about marijuana (it makes you hallucinate, and it is psychologically addicting), crack and cocaine (two very dangerous substances that give you a fake feeling of being powerful, when what they are really doing is making you very sick), heroin (it is like a medicine that takes away your pain and makes your body feel good, but it causes your body to need it so much that you could die without it), and LSD and angel dust (they affect the way your brain works, they make you hallucinate, and they can damage your brain).
FEARS PHOBIAS AND OTHER EMOTIONAL
DISCOMFORTS
The period between early childhood and adolescence is one that can be marked by many different fears, phobias, idiosyncrasies, and true emotional conflict. Parents need to know which of these things will pass and which ones should be given professional attention. Seeing some of these questions and answers will probably be a relief to those of you who have been going through some trials and tribulations of your own.
