30 years - Our Journey Continues Grant Program Committee meeting minutes (draft) (7)
Communications and social media
A Social Media Report and an outline of Social Media Desired Outcomes had been circulated. Lady said the outcomes framework was in response to the discussion in September about the goals and objectives of JSF’s social media. The document states that the overall goal is to use social media to benefit grantees by adding value beyond philanthropic dollars, and it outlines three strategies: growing JSF’s following on existing social media platforms, becoming our own brand ambassadors and keeping abreast of social media trends. These strategies are currently in use and will be evaluated and improved upon going forward.
The Social Media Report showed increases in the Facebook metrics. Angie conducted a year-by-year comparison and observed that the numbers for December 2021 are in line with pre-pandemic years. She concluded that the unusually high numbers reported in December 2020 are likely due to people becoming more engaged on Facebook during pandemic lockdowns.
The report also showed decreases in users and interactions on JSF’s website. Lady opined that the switch to Google Analytics measurements could be a contributing factor. Also, website traffic tends to increase during scholarship application season, which begins in January, and fluctuate at other times of the year.
