P. 3
Please pray the following prayer and reflect on that prayer as you learn about the meaning of
El Día de los Muertos through the different activities in this book:
God our Father,
Your power brings us to birth,
Your providence guides our lives,
and by Your command we return to dust.
Lord, those who die still live in Your presence,
their lives change but do not end.
I pray in hope for my family,
relatives and friends,
and for all the dead known to You alone.
In company with Christ,
Who died and now lives,
may they rejoice in Your kingdom,
where all our tears are wiped away.
Unite us together again in one family,
to sing Your praise forever and ever.
Amen.
May this year’s celebration of El Día de los Muertos, remind you of God’s promise of eternal
life as you honor and remember those whom you love and who have gone before you to the
presence of our loving God. At home make an “altarcito” (altar) with the following crafts in
this book and invite your family and friends to share and enjoy some pan de muerto and the
blessing of God’s love for each and every one of us, through Jesus Christ who LIVES and reigns
forever and ever. AMEN.
