Air Law

1.4.6.6 Time periods for VFR day flight

Denmark is divided into 4 time zones for the daily VFR period.

                The 4 zones are:

                 - West of 11°E, including Læsø

                 - East of 11°E, excluding Læsø

                 - Bornholm and the Ertholmene islands

                 - The area in the North Sea west of 008°E

You are allowed to fly VFR day flight from the beginning of twilight in the zone

you are in until a number of minutes after the sunset time for the Copenhagen

                Observatory.

It is the Danish Civil Aviation Authority that determines this number of minutes.

See in the VFG, the back of the ICAO chart, or in BL 7-15 to determine the period

for VFR day flight (UTC times).

Outside the daily VFR flight times, you can, if conditions allow, fly VFR night.

1.4.6.7 Flight levels and altimeter settings

When departing from a controlled airport, you will be given QNH, which is the

air pressure setting the altimeter should be set to, in order to show the

aircraft’s altitude in relation to MSL (Mean Sea Level).

When taking off from a field or an airport with an unknown elevation, the

altimeter could be set to 0 feet.

This ensures that it will read 0 feet when you land back at the same location. In

some countries, you can be given the air pressure at ground level (QFE). In such

cases, you should ask for a QFE (Field Elevation pressure).
