Air Law
The LAPL(A) certificate allows the holder, without compensation, to serve as
pilot-in-command or co-pilot of an aircraft in non-commercial aviation, under
the following conditions:
- There may be no more than 4 persons on board
- The pilot-in-command must have flown at least 10 hours as the pilot-in-
command before carrying passengers
1.9.3.3 Validity and requirements for exercising rights
To exercise the rights, the medical certificate and language test must be valid.
If the applicant has not scored a 6 on the language proficiency test but only a 5

the same type/class of aircraft within the past 90 days.
Once the LAPL certificate is obtained, the certificate itself has no expiration
date. However, the rights expire.
The rights granted by the LAPL(A) certificate are valid for 2 years from issuance
and then 2 years from expiration, provided the rights are extended or renewed
within the validity period.
