Air Law

                1.5.1.4 Terminal area (TMA)

TMAs are classified as airspace class C or D.

The APP (Approach Control) manages arriving and departing flights in the TMA.

Flight in a TMA requires two-way radio communication. There is a transponder
requirement with altitude reporting (MODE C or S) in class C airspace, but not

in TMA with class D airspace.

                1.5.2 Air traffic services

At larger airports, different air traffic services ensure that everything proceeds

                correctly and safely.

The purpose of air traffic services is:

                  - To prevent collisions between aircraft.

                  - To prevent collisions in the maneuvering area between aircraft and

                      obstacles.

                  - To promote and regulate air traffic.

                  - To provide advice and information necessary for the safe and efficient

conduct of flight (Flight Information Service).

                  - To notify the appropriate control center, flight information center, and

rescue center about aircraft requiring search and rescue services and
                      assist as necessary (Alerting Service).

Air traffic services are divided into the following categories:

                  - Flight Control Service

                  - Flight Information Service

                  - Alerting Service
