Human Performance



                You can do a lot yourself to avoid flight-related stress and, as a result, acute

                stress:

                   -  Plan the trip in detail

                   -  Make sure you have alternative options

                   -  Ensure good working conditions – both before and during the flight

                   -  Enjoy the trip – be positive




                The limits for overload are highly individual. Some can constantly drive in high

                gear, others have to downshift.


                It is also important to know - and recognize - your limits.

                2.6.4    Alcohol


                We all know the effects of alcohol. Performance is reduced by even a small

                amount of alcohol, and one of the first things you lose is your judgment when

                you drink too much. The legal requirements state that no one with a blood

                alcohol content of 0.20 or more may work as a crew member on an aircraft.




                One thing is the alcohol content, another is a hangover after a night in the town.

                It  can  easily  take  24  hours  before  you  are  100%  “fit  for  flight”  again  after

                drinking alcohol.




                Normally, it is estimated that it takes about 1 hour and 15 minutes to burn off

                one object, so you can roughly calculate how long a break you should take until

                the alcohol you have consumed is burned off. There are no ways to burn it off

                quickly.

                In English, there is a good expression: At least 8 hours from bottle to throttle.
