Principles of flight

               In front, the air is sucked over the profile.


               As the air flows over the profile, its speed and direction increase, resulting in a

               downward airflow (downwash) after it leaves the trailing edge.




               Profiles     are     designed

               differently  depending  on

               the performance required.












               If you need a wing for an aircraft that takes off at relatively low speeds, the profile

               shown below provides a large amount of lift.









               The profile in  the  middle  generates less  lift at  the same speed but has  lower

               profile drag, allowing for a higher top speed.


               The profile on the far right is symmetrical and allows for inverted flight. This is

               used in high-performance aircraft for aerobatics.




               In flight, we are very happy for the lift and do everything we can to keep drag as

               low as possible.

               To compare profiles, various lines are given names (see the diagram on the next

               page):
