9.4.3 The ICAO Map
The map we normally use in connection with flying is called the ICAO map. The
ICAO map is of the Lambert conformal conical (cone) projection type.
The Lambert map is a gnomonic projection.

9.4.3.1 Meridians and parallels of latitude
On the ICAO map, the meridians are straight lines that converge (approach each
other) towards the poles.
The parallels of latitude are concentric circles (circles with the same center).
