                Unusable gasoline is seen in the

                figure  here  as  the  amount  of

                gasoline that is below the height

                of the outlet.




                If the aircraft tilts, rolls or turns,

                not all of the fuel can be directed

                to the engine.

                8.5.2    Fuel tanks


                Fuel tanks can be of different types.

                Either aluminum tanks or rubber tanks.




                The gasoline tank from a Piper is seen

                here. It is a part of the wing that can

                be unscrewed.


                This  is  very  practical  if  you  need  to

                inspect the main spar in the wing, and

                you have to do that on a Piper.




                The  Piper's  tank  is  equipped  with  a

                Fillerneck,  a  bent  plate  that  can  be

                seen at the filler neck.

                If you fill the tank to these, you know how many gallons are in the tank.
