Aircraft general knowledge

                8.12.10 Avionics, radio equipment

Avionics refers to the electronic equipment used in aircraft. It includes systems

for communication, navigation, surveillance and flight control.

Avionics systems can also include GPS, radar, transponders and autopilots.

Radio equipment is primarily used to communicate with control towers, other

                aircraft and aviation authorities.

                8.12.10.1 GPS, COM/NAV radio, Transponder

Here you can see the equipment we have chosen for our Cessna OY-CTZ.

                It consists of 3 parts:

                  - GPS GARMIN 795. Can be set to 3D mode and

                      display mast and terrain etc.

                  - COM/NAV radio with VOR navigation

                  - Transponder with mode S.

With it, the flight service can always see who you
are, where you are and at what altitude you are

                flying.

The equipment is future-proof and can maintain

                status well into the 2020s.

                8.12.10.2 Indicator

In addition to the instruments shown, there is an indicator

                for the NAV/COM radio.

The indicator has a vertical and a horizontal needle.

The vertical needle is used when we fly to a VOR station.
