8.12.11.3 COM 2, Garmin GTR 225
Under Garmin 430 we have COM 2, Garmin GTR 225.
The Garmin GTR 225 is a relatively simple radio to use.
It is the primary radio for communication. It has a built-in intercom function.
There is a frequency database in it, and it writes which any station you have
entered, if it is in the database.
Remember to turn the radio up appropriately after you have turned it on.
When “MON” is activated, the radio can monitor both the active frequency and
the STB (Stand By) frequency.
We use this to, for example, listen to the frequency of the next unit we intend to
call in connection with the flight.
8.12.11.4 Transponder, GTX 328
Under COM 2 we have a GTX 328 Transponder.
GTX 328 is a MODE S transponder that transmits both flight altitude and the
aircraft's registration.
