November 1997, the Durban ICC was South Africa’s
first International Convention Centre and has played
a pioneering role in attracting international events to
our shores since its inception.
In 2025, the Durban ICC proudly celebrates 28 years of
excellence. Once again, the Centre has been crowned
“Africa’s Leading Meetings and Conference Centre” at
the 2025 World Travel Awards. In the 25-year history
of the award category, this marks the 19th time that
the Durban ICC has received this prestigious title,
reaffirming its position as the continent’s premier
venue for world-class events. Adding to its accolades,
the Durban ICC was also named South Africa’s Best
Convention Centre 2025 at the World MICE Awards,
with the honour accepted by our CEO on behalf of our
dedicated team.
Speaking at the awards ceremony, Durban ICC Chief
Executive Officer, Ms. Lindiwe Rakharebe, expressed
her pride, saying: “We are immensely proud and
humbled to once again be recognised as ‘Africa’s
Leading Meetings and Conference Centre’. This
achievement reflects the tireless dedication of our
team and our unwavering commitment to providing a
world-class platform for meetings and events.”
