When the  rm was founded over 20 years ago, it was done so with four main objectives: to be distinctly focused on real estate, to provide exemplary legal work from top quality solicitors, to focus solely on high quality clients and to work only with people whose ethics and motivations matched those of DJB. I am proud to say that our unwavering commitment to these objectives propelled us through another year of opportunity, success and growth in 2020.

It is certainly not luck that has uniquely positioned DJB to cope with the rapidly changing marketplace we’ve experienced in recent years, but is rather the product of a series of evolutionary steps we have meticulously executed to set us apart from other  rms. Each of these decisions has stemmed from a desire to answer one simple question: how do we delight our clients? The remote model we have operated for the past 15 years was the key to doing exactly that in 2020. Fifteen years ago, remote working was a step into the unknown for DJB and for those who joined us. Our only aim was to attract the best lawyers and extract the best out of them, so offering  exibility was one step towards achieving that. We quickly learnt that the success of a remote model relied upon nurturing three things: a culture of accountability, strong lines of communication and a feeling of being part of one  rm. It has been interesting to watch other businesses face the same challenges now. I’m proud that these principles have been front and centre of DJB’s operational structure for many years and allowed us to provide undisrupted
