It is so important to me that at DJB, we never become complacent in our mission. I welcome innovation and a dedication to consistent improvement is ingrained within the rm’s DNA. During my time in industry, we had a saying that “today’s specialism is tomorrow’s commodity”. Whilst that saying applies to manufactured goods, at DJB we are always alive to the principle. As a technologist myself, I will always promote the intelligent use of computers to improve our service and value to clients. We do this already and will continue to increase our use of technology to improve our service and value. However, the view I take, and the one which shapes DJB, is that as a law rm we should focus on the things computers can’t do without solicitors. We are a solicitors rm specialising in real estate for clients who recognise the added value experienced solicitors provide.
It’s my belief that the true value in our solicitors lies in their legal expertise combined with the ability to derive commercial solutions for clients gained only through their many years of experience. That’s why we allow our solicitors to focus on just that. We have a dedicated business development team responsible for building top-level relationships with clients and an account management team whose focus is entirely on the provision of outstanding client care. I am delighted that we have been able to push forward to expand both our administration and legal team in the last 12 months. With the addition of ve new highly experienced partners, our expertise has widened, and I look forward to the new clients that this will surely bring.
In 2020 we continued to provide outstanding legal work for exceptional clients, following on from the high-quality work we’ve done for the past twenty years as showcased on pages 7-13. I am also particularly proud of the work we continued to do with other law rms in support of their clients’ real estate needs. The partnerships we have cultivated with rms, from boutique to top-20, have been truly rewarding. The success of our black letter law webinars attended by thousands of real estate professionals in the last twelve months, together with the partnerships we continue to strengthen with our peers, are testament to a spirit of reciprocity and collaboration I’m so pleased to see growing in our industry.
The question of what is to come in the future is one that no one can answer with absolute certainty. But what I can say is that driving DJB to continue its growth and development will be, as always, a privilege and a pleasure. I look forward to seeing the wonderful opportunities that are in store for us all.
