Grandparents’ and Special Friends’ Day 2017 BY TAYLOR GROUNDS Special Guests
On Friday, March 24, Middle School students proudly welcomed their grandparents and special friends to our campus for a fun afternoon. Only happening once every three years, this event gives our students a chance to invite loved ones, some near, some far, to school for the afternoon to get a taste of what it’s like to be a Cascia Hall student.
As fourth period started on the day of the big event, there was a sense of excitement in the Middle School. For some students, this was their rst opportunity to show off their school to their visitors. As the bell rang, students impatiently waited to be dismissed, so they could go meet their guests in the Performing Arts Center. Once united with their loved ones, everyone took a seat for a short welcome program. As all things at Cascia, the program opened with prayer. After an introduction from Middle School principal, Mr. Goldsmith, the 8th grade choir performed, led by Ms. Cheray Smith.
The students led their guests to the lobby of the PAC for refreshments, snacks, and a snapshot in the photo booth. The rest of the afternoon was spent giving a tour of the school. Students really showed some great leadership, whether they were giving their own grandparents or guests a tour, or jumping in to partner up with a friend. Nobody was left out of the day’s activities.
There were over 200 guests in attendance including some of our Cascia Hall alumni. For those particular visitors, it was an opportunity to see how much Cascia has evolved while staying true to its core values. With a school as steeped in history and tradition as Cascia Hall is, it was great to see those returning Commandos get a new look at the school with the help of their grandchildren. It was also a chance for them to reconnect with old friends from their time walking these halls.
Many students chose to spend the afternoon taking their guests through the school, walking them through their schedules and introducing them to their teachers.After speaking to students and guests alike, everyone seems to be very pleased with how the afternoon went. Our guests were impressed with the warm welcome extended by the entire Cascia Hall community, not to mention our beautiful campus. What a great way to be reminded of just how special our community is here at Cascia, and how far our Cascia community stretches.
