music.

Music is like an idol. Before entering the seminary school,
I had majored in music for over a 10-year period. The

characteristics of music are well known to me. A church
conductor can appear to be fervent in his spirit by an

observation through his sweat and diligence. But it can result
from an idolization. With a mere glimpse, that faith can

appear to be healthy but in reality, that passion is from the
             heart yearning for more music.

I have stopped listening to a classical music. At times,
some classical music may come to my ears, and it still drags

me down to listening with a passion. The thought of ‘what a
great feeling’ begins to emerge. That feeling is very similar

to that of listening to a hymnal music. But there is a great
difference. The truth is, classical music does not remind us of

God. This is the destructive power in a worldly music.
I am reminded of a music CD called ‘a prayer of

meditation’. The music is very beautiful, yet calm, and
assures its value in meditating. But now, that music has

become an obstacle in praying the spiritual prayer. When I
moved to an apartment in LA, a loud noise began to seep

through the closet that had been renovated for a prayer
space. The noise of cars passing by, grass- cutting noise and
