It was a silent night and I’d drifted off to sleep But as for me I know what I saw
First day on the job It ain’t no story man its real
Third shift watching my brother’s sheep
It didn’t pay much money The angels started dancing
But it was all that I could find They started saying noel
I was trying to keep my nose clean Joy to the world is born this day’s
Tryin to toe the line the king of Israel
Tried to fight the sleep To listen click this link...
But the job it was so boring
It didn’t help for me to hear
Them other fellows snoring Outside the Box Writing
Then somewhere near the edge
Of being awake and having a dream I like to look at a story and pick one element
The night sky lit up the like the noonday and see where that tangent goes.
And I heard myself scream
In light of the Holidays, I decided to revisit the
And the angels started dancing story of the Shepherds and the Angels from
They started saying Noel Luke Chapter 2. As the story goes they were
Joy to the world born this day watching their sheep at night when the angels
Is the King of Israel appeared.
I thought I was seeing things So I took one of the Shepherds and thought
Closed my eyes thinking I was dreamin about a guy who was down on his luck, maybe
But I knew that it was for real an ex con. His brother begrudgingly gives him
When I heard them other fellas screaming a job where no one would see him. I built the
lyric around him “trying to toe the line” to keep
A hundred million angels his nose clean and not screw up.
They was dancing in the glory
We ran for we was worth we left them sheep Then an incredible event happens and he leaves
Cause somebody had to tell the story his livestock. What was the reaction from his
brother and what happened. Would you
And the angels started dancing believe him? I enjoyed just taking a little twist
They started saying Noel and painting a different perspective. This takes
Joy to the world born this day your listener on a paradigm shift and helps
Is the King of Israel them see deeper into the people involved.
To this day I can still hear’em Thinking differently than the norm is fun to
Close my eyes see the glorious fire explore and can create new opportunities
My brother swears I’d been drinking of discovery and innovative lyric writing.
That night when I talk about
that heavenly choir Merry Christmas! Happy writing!
