Time To Go Home

Daybreak, I watch as the sunlight slowly rises
All the demons from the shadows melt away
Sleep wants to hold on to me now but it's too late
For I must leave my bed and face another day
Sunrise, shrill bird song drifts into my shattered mind
I see birds feeding on the pavements far below
I follow their path with my eyes for a short while
Until slowly out of my vision they all go

Closing the door on unhappiness
Searching for my real life to begin
Reaching to make dreams a reality
Feeling a new strength from deep within

Morning, the kettle sings out ready for my tea
I sit and drink it yawning heavily and smile
This new day marks the beginning of my new life
Whilst I drink my tea I sit and ponder a while
I pack my life into small bags and load my car
Look around me one last time, I feel no regrets
Set off on my journey to find some happiness
And my sadness melts away as my mind forgets

Nothing in my life has been too easy
Struggles and heartaches have followed me
But today I know I'll leave them far behind
As I go out and find my destiny
