SO Kim Kondrashoff
tommy talks poetry & music The Day I Met Little Richard
Obviously my photography skills were Lol! He was very funny to say the least!
lacking & I probably had a few too many From the very first song
drinks under my belt when I had taken
this photo of Little Richard. People started to jump out of their seats &
dance up a storm!
I remember just before it was all over my
date & I were dancing as well, having a
great old time, when a very tall & large
muscular member of Little Richard’s en-
tourage said to the both of us in a very low
voice, ‘’Would you mind please moving,
the King will be coming through any min-
ute.’’
As he was making his way down the aisle,
people were screaming for an encore,
going crazy, he was smiling away & yelling
out, ‘’I know you dig me!’’ ‘’I know you dig
me!’’
Yes we did & we still do Little Richard!
R.I.P.
It was sometime before the show & I saw
him peeking around a corner, scoping out
the club when I approached him with my
camera & asked him if I could take his
picture. He immediately said with a great
big grin on his face, ‘’Why sure!’’ This pho-
to was taken at the Kego club in Vancouver
Canada Gastown in the fall of 1973.
I remember him doing his own
introduction, like how Muhammed Ali
would. Giving himself an endless amount
of accolades & then some!
