Letters to the Editor

An Introduction to the SAMVOINT Organization

I, me, we here at SWW are thrilled to place the accompanying letter – received from Tony Macquet, the Chairman of SAMVOINT
        – South African Military Veterans Organization International. Tony and his team have built a fantastic structure in support of
South African veterans – but, hey… I’ll leave it to Tony to tell you more.

        G’day Vossie,

On behalf of all our SAMVOINT members
around the world, we extend our very best
wishes and support in what SAFFER World-
wide is setting out to do. Building bridges of
        communication between former South Africans
and domiciled South Africans alike, will have
a very positive impact, as we have experienced
ourselves within SAMVOINT. With your drive
and commitment, we are sure you will be most
        successful in this endeavour.

As a global organisation of former South African
veterans, which was set up back in 2003 as a
        single-rank organisation representing all four
Corps of the SADF / SANDF, we recognise the
important role that all South Africans played
who were either conscripted or volunteered to
serve their country. We are first and foremost a
Remembrance organisation and one of the big
features of membership is networking, catch-
ing up with old mates and making new ones. Our focus remains in Remembrance, Equality, Brotherhood and Reconciliation. We
directly represent the interests of our members, and even non-member veterans, by facilitating welfare, medals and other requests
through the SANDF, the CMVO (Council of Military Veteran Organisations) and DMV (Department of Military Veterans). Our
membership enjoys continued growth, which can only be attributed to our members gaining much from meeting and catching
up with other South Africans within our respective host countries, as well as global contact through our SAMVOINT Facebook
Group. Our members, now enjoy 4 x 4 outings, dinners, target shoots, fishing trips, braais, presentations and all forms of social
        interaction.

Your target audience is much broader than ours but, in the event that your listeners / readers might be interested, or if they are a
veteran or a descendant of a veteran, we encourage them to visit our SAMVOINT Website at www.samvoint.org and browse to
        “About SAMVOINT - 2020”

I sincerely hope that they will take a bit of time to read this and take note of just how broadly we support our members. Because we
believe that our members have more than paid their dues by virtue of their service, there are no membership fees.

All the very best for your venture from all of us at SAMVOINT.
        Best Veteran Regards,

        Tony.
