Who Am I – Veteran? you not. But… I’ve destroyed quite a few of the photos taken
So, here’s a thought for the magazine. Why not share a favour- way back then… because priorities change. We don’t want to
ite photo of something, some place, some moment you hold look back. Often, just looking stirs a devil… a nightmare or an
dear, or not so dear? A photo taken when you were boarding uneasy reaction. But… sometimes… just sometimes, looking at
the troop train at outer Pofadder… or lower Smellington. A the photo helps us confront and deal with the devil in the detail.

laying low. Yes, I know you weren’t supposed to have that little about the memories the photos bring? Do you care to share the
instamatic… yes, I know you weren’t supposed to be taking history… before it disappears into oblivion? Do you wonder
sneaky pics… but you did. about it all? I do… and that’s why we should get together, here…
and regale each other with memories. Why? Because… only by
You see… I also snuck a wee instamatic to the bush. Yep… I kid talking and sharing will others know a little more, and hopefully
we will feel a little freer about life.
I was going to begin this series with a very tame photo… of my
squadron badge, until I realised, I can’t be asking you to share
something a little more personal if I hide behind a squadron
badge. So, here’s a photo taken with that wee instamatic… way
back when I was still quite skinny.
Yes, it’s really me. Those who know things from those days may
recognise what’s going on. I would like to think that the actions
we took saved lives… and strengthened our belief in our cause.
OK… that’s it, do please take part. Share, because in so doing
you may lift, or shift, a memory. We owe it to ourselves… we
owe it to others. We were part of a great organization… we need
to remember that.
Thank you. Yes… I feel a need to talk… that’s why this platform
has a very real mission… to be that voice in the wilderness, a
link for likeminded folk who feel the need to build friendships
and record interesting conversations.
