do not alienate yourself

Most people writing lyrics hope someday to have one or more of their lyrics make it
into a hit song.

Do you have any idea who would record your music, or who will be hearing your mu-
sic?

Take just one listener and ask who they are?
How old are they?
Where do they live?
What do they believe?
Do any of these make any difference?
Sure it does, but it shouldn’t.

The only reason any of these questions would make a difference is when you are sabo-
taging your listening audience. It’s okay to have your own beliefs, but it is also okay for
someone to have theirs.

Most people are guilty of making ultimatums on social media networks.
“Believe this way or I will remove you, unfriend you, or block you.”
How many people are on your blocked list for an ultimatum you have made?

I am not saying you should take abuse, or not resort to blocking those you see as dis-
ruptive, but rather it is not a good idea to broadcast your intentions.

Remember, the more fans you alienate the less people who will listen to your music.

If you want a social media for things other than music, and do not need to socialize
with those who do not agree with you, be my guest and do what you think is best for
you.

If you want to use your social media for music, keep it as open as you can see fit, and
DO NOT ALIENATE YOURSELF.
