 Write About?...

Would this idea interest a co-writer?
For more ideas about finding and following through
        4. Explore Your Song Idea on songwriting inspiration, you can read:

Although I prefer to explore a song idea before tion/
evaluating it, most songwriters evaluate a song
idea, at least unconsciously, before spending much Trevor Dimoff is a songwriter and songwriting
time exploring it. One songwriting exercise I enjoy is teacher. You can find him at:
taking a song idea or title and writing as much as I
can about it in 10 minutes. Think about your song https://epicsongwriting.com
idea… what are the possibilities. Write about it…
one powerful writing exercise I routinely use is Brainstoming link
        Brainstorming.

        5. Develop Your Song Idea

I find it faster to spend a little time planning my
songs before starting to write. I think about
possibilities, outline possible story ideas and decide
what I want to say in each song section. When I
focus my creativity with a plan I finish stronger
        songs in less time.

Start with a title hook. This will help you focus your
thinking as you write. Some questions that will help
you develop your song idea include:

What is the song about? What is the story you want
to tell in this song? What is the story of the song?
What inspired you to write this song? Who are the
characters in the song? It might start as: I and you.
What is the emotional journey for the audience and
for the character(s) in the song? Where is the song
        set? Where is the action?

        6. Write Your Song Idea

This is the fun (and sometimes frustrating) part of
lyric writing! For more ideas about the writing phase
you can read How Do I Start Writing Lyrics? (Write
        Away, January 2019, p15)

Get to work and start writing. Get into the habit of
finishing your songs, even when they aren’t the best
songs you’ve ever written. Every songwriter has
weak songs that they don’t share. Remember every
song is an experiment Not every experiment is
successful, that’s okay! You can learn more from
mistakes than from success. Write another song
        when this one is done….
