No. 19 Field Hockey Downed at No. 4 UConn

STORRS, Conn. – In a rainy evening game featuring a rematch of last year's NCAA Tournament First
Round matchup, No. 19 Rutgers field hockey was downed 2-0 on the road at No. 4 UConn.
KEY STATS
• Gianna Glatz made nine saves for the Scarlet Knights.
• UConn held a 21-11 advantage in shots.
• Corners were even at 5-5.
• Rutgers got six shots on goal, but they were all turned aside.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The game was scoreless after one quarter of play. Early in the second quarter, the Huskies' leading
scorer, Marie Auer, slipped behind the defense and tallied to give the home team a 1-0 lead. The
Scarlet Knights pressed throughout the game to try and create and equalizer, recording eight of their
shots in the second half, but were unable to find the back of the net. In the final minute of the game,
Sophie Hamilton added an insurance marker for UConn, making the final score 2-0 in favor of the
Huskies. Rutgers now leads the all-time series over Ball State 5-1.
UP NEXT
Rutgers remains on the road to face another ranked opponent. The Scarlet Knights will
be in Philadelphia on Sunday to take on No. 17 St. Joe's at 1 p.m. This game was the first
of three straight games against currently ranked foes.
