Sign of Progress: Ridgefield Field Hockey
Team Ties Wilton By Tim Murphy
Friday, October 10, 2014
A scoreless tie is often not much to get excited about.
But for the Ridgefield High field hockey team, it was a
significant sign of progress Thursday evening at Tiger
Hollow.
The Tigers made a statement with their 0-0 draw
against Wilton, the three-time reigning Class M state
champions, who are also undefeated in the FCIAC this
season.
It was the first time this season that a conference opponent had not
lost to the Warriors (10-1-1 overall, 8-0-1 FCIAC).
Ridgefield (5-3-2-1) got a strong performance from freshman goalie Ellie
Kaiser, who finished with 10 saves for the shutout. Kaiser had three saves
in the first half, five saves in the second half, and two in the overtime
period.
Wilton goalie Amanda Hendry made seven stops, including four in
overtime.
