        Wilton Four-Peat Falls Short Warriors Denied

        WETHERSFIELD — The Wilton High field hockey team overcame a great deal in getting back to the CIAC
        Class M championship game.

        Losing eight starters to graduation, suffering key injuries along the way while dealing with an influx of
        inexperienced, albeit talented, varsity players assuming important roles were just a few of the issues the
        Warriors had to meet head on.

        When the smoke cleared on the regular season, they found themselves with a solid 13- 2- 1- 0 record and the
        No. 1 seed going into the Class M state tournament, a tournament Wilton had won three years in row previously
        looking to make it four straight. Wilton conquered three consecutive opponents, all by shutout, to earn a shot at
        No. 4 but the one last obstacle in the Warriors’ way, Daniel Hand of Madison, was the one they couldn’t clear.

        The second-seeded Tigers scored a goal 19: 26 into the second half then 52 seconds later, they added another
