sophomore Delaney Chase also scoring. Freshman
Emma Rosen had two assists, with one assist each by
sophomore Meredith Rappaport, Godin and
Baxendale.

Wilton completely dominated the action and finished
with a 27-1 advantage in shots at goal and a 17-1 edge
in penalty corners. Keara Myerson had 12 saves in
goal for the Senators – 11 in the first half.

Juniors Jillian Mahon, Maddie Duffy, Olivia DeLuca
and Katherine Campbell, sophomores Bridget Ward
and Sheila Higgins, and freshman Maddie Pagliaro
also were part of the dominating midfield and forward
lines, while the defense was anchored by senior
captain Caroline Taverna, Rappaport and freshman
Jess Hendry, with help off the bench from
sophomores Katie Leffel and Caroline Ferro.

“I think we’re really connecting well,” said Taverna
after the win. “We’re a young team but I feel like
everyone’s really stepping up and acting as if they
were older, and really adapting to playing with us. I
think we’ve been communicating pretty well together
and we’re a pretty tight team, so that really helps with
confidence and trust on the field.”
“We’ve been working really hard and the returning players from last year have been really helpful with the
incoming freshmen,” said Cunningham. “I think that what’s new this year is we’re very close. You can feel it,
off the field and on the field. We’ve tried to bond so
much, just to bring our team together, because if
you’re together off the field, you’re going to play a lot
better.”

She continued, “It’s a lot of teamwork out there that’s
helping us. We are together, always, when we attack,
and playing defense we’re always going to have each
other’s back. That’s the main thing this year – always
having each other’s back.”

Wilton had 16 shots at goal in the first half but went
more than 21 minutes before getting on the scoreboard
as Myerson made save after save. The Warriors scored
after a scramble in front, with the ball rolling out to
Godin for an open shot with 8:43 left in the first half.
Three minutes later, Godin’s blast deflected off a
defender’s stick and was knocked into the open cage
by Chase.

Myerson turned away a hard blast by Ward with three
minutes left and made back-to-back saves on Godin
and Duffy in the final seconds of the half.
