Wilton Field Hockey Coach Deirdre Hynes

                                   Named Coach of the Year

        Deirdre Hynes is
        beginning to make a habit
        out of being named coach
        of the year.

In her 14 seasons as the
        head field hockey coach
        at Wilton High School,
        the architect of the
        Warriors' successful
        program has been
        recognized by the
        Connecticut High School
        Coaches Association as
the coach of the year in
        her sport not once, but
        twice.

        Then last fall, after
        leading WHS to a third
        straight state
championship, Hynes was named the 2013 FCIAC Field Hockey Coach of the Year. And in June, at the
conference's annual end-of-the-year recognition dinner, she was selected among all the fall sports coaches of the
year as the overall FCIAC Coach of the Year for the fall season.

Pretty impressive. But she wasn't done yet. No, eight months after she and her team played in that Class M state
final, and one month after being honored by her conference, and less than a month before she embarks on her
15th season and pursuit of another state title, Deirdre Hynes can now add one more line to her growing resume:

The Hour's "Coach of the Year" for the 2013-14 school year.

Indeed, the well-deserved honor officially brings the curtain down on the Warriors' outstanding 2013 season
which saw them go 15-1 during the regular season and finish a sparkling 21-2 overall, culminating with a
thrilling 1-0 overtime win against Lauralton Hall in the state final.
