Wilton Falls to Greenwich, Norwalk Still Alive
WILTON – Greenwich put the Norwalk Bears
on the FCIAC field hockey seat by virtue of the
Cardinals 2-1 win over Wilton at Fujitani Field
on Wednesday afternoon. The Cardinals were
tied with Norwalk for the eighth and final spot
in the FCIAC playoffs, but the win moved them
two points ahead.
The Bears must now beat Westhill, which is
seeded seventh, on Thursday to clinch a spot in
the league playoffs. If Norwalk beats the
Vikings, it will actually take the No. 7 seed as
there would be a three-way tie with the Bers
winning the tiebreaker over both teams. For the
Cardinals, Sarah Stine Baugh and Page Maurer
Scored the goals while Leah Hota Long made eight saves. For Wilton, which as sewn up the top-seed for the
FCIAC tournament, Jillian Mahon scored the goal and Amanda Hendry made two saves.
