Field Hockey: Wilton Blanks Guilford in State

        Meg Cunningham tallied two goals and four other players also scored as the Wilton High field hockey team
        trounced Guilford at home on Tuesday, 6-0, in the first round of the Class M state tournament.

        After a slow start, the Warriors got first-half goals from Bridget Ward, Kristen Godin, and Delaney Baxendale
        to lead 3-0 at halftime.

        Cunningham scored two goals to open the second half, and Olivia Deluca scored the final goal. Cunningham
        and Jillian Mahon each had two assists for Wilton, with Godin also notching an assist.


        Brooke Misbach finished the game with 15 saves in goal for Guilford, while Amanda Hendry had one save for
        Wilton. The Warriors had a 16-0 advantage in penalty corners, and 21-1 edge in shots at goal.

        Top-seeded Wilton (15-3-1) will host a quarterfinal game on Thursday at 4 against either Joel Barlow or

        Branford. Guilford, the 16  seed, finished the season 5-10-2-1.
