My Wish If I Get the Power to Change Something Would Be…
G.D. Anderson once said, ‘Feminism isn’t about making women strong. Women are
already strong. It is about changing the way the world perceives the strength.’
Without any further deliberation I would definitely use my wish to change the mindset
of everyone with regard to women. Discrimination of and prejudice against women are
not just minor mistakes that can be overlooked. They are crimes against them. To all the
discriminators out there, this is what I would like to ask: Is there a proof of any divine
proclamation that states that women are weaker and feebler than men? I hope I am
writing on behalf of most readers when I say that no God has decreed anything like that
in the scriptures. It takes simple common sense to understand that all of us were created
as equals and that class, caste, religion and most importantly, gender are social
constructs.
Writing about this reminds me of Malala Yousafzai, a Pakistani who stood against the
Taliban and fought for women’s education. She is one of my biggest inspirations. I also
look up to Indira Gandhi who is known as the ‘Iron Lady of India’. Both the
aforementioned women along with many other great girls and ladies, have proven and
continue to prove to the world that nothing is impossible for the female of the species.
I want every girl to know that:
Her voice can change the world!
Where there is a woman, there is magic!
Women are as worthy as men;
Women are as strong!
