Emergency cases due to traffic accidents are still a concern given the large number of cases in Indonesia. In order
to prevent the disability and death of the victim, first aid provided by the bystander is needed properly. As one of
bystanders, the traffic policemen play an important role in providing first aid to victims. However, according to a
preliminary study, the traffic policemen in Denpasar never been given training so they didn't know how to provide
the right first aid to victims. Coupled with the Covid-19 pandemic situation, the traffic policemen feel doubtful so
that the motivation to help is lacking. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of Basic Life Support
(BLS) video on traffic policemen motivation in carrying out first aid BLS for traffic emergencies in Denpasar. This
research is a kind of quantitative research with one group pre-test post-test design and cross-sectional approach.
The number of respondents is 107 traffic policemen from 4 areas in the city of Denpasar selected using a simple
random sampling technique. Data collection used a questionnaire to measure motivation before and after being
given a BLS video. The results showed that before being given the BLS video, traffic policemen motivation mostly
in the moderate range as many as 58 people (54.2%), but after being given the intervention there was a significant
increase number to 91 people (85%) with strong motivation category. With this BLS video, traffic policemen will
be able to see, assess and remember how to help victims. This is shown in the post test results which is shown that
motivation is greatly increased from before. This finding indicates that BLS video are able to increase traffic
policemen motivation in providing first aid in traffic emergencies.
