“It’s time for this exceptional land of destruction to reflect that power and to create a physical expression of its people’s ingenuity.”
Projects being submitted to the Urban Confluence Silicon Valley competition are taking themed design work to the next level. Students were posed with the challenge of participating in a “world-wide open ideas competition” led by the San José Light Tower Corporation. The mission is to pitch a design that not only can be seen as a breathtaking landmark for the Silicon Valley, but as a space that enhances community values, provides a clear identity for the city and protects the nature that is cherished by the citizens.
Submissions are made by January 15, 2020 and will have a series of reviews and exhibitions before the three finalists are chosen in March 2020.
A second phase of the project will commence where the finalists each receive $150,000 to continue developing their proposals. A single winner will be selected by the Jury to be the new city landmark.
