Making dreams real as part of a collaborative process is the many challenges faced by designers in our industry, making
it unique in the entertainment arts.
This showcase spotlights the efforts of our students as they grapple with the needed steps of development. Within the context of a ten-week quarter, it is impossible to complete tasks that typically take from 20 to 36 weeks to complete. What is on display here is only a small portion of the efforts required to communicate a project but clearly illustrate our student’s ability to meet those challenges.

Learning to communicate complex concepts so that literally hundreds of people can assist in making them real requires focus and a universal approach. This approach must allow for clear direction and the sharing of ideas in a timely manner.
At SCAD, we dare our students to dream, teach them how to communicate that dream and train them in the tools needed to communicate in a manner consistent with industry standards. As Themed Entertainment Designers, it all begins with the story or narrative. Developing a narrative that serves as the basis of a coordinated design effort is a learned skill, one that requires focus and patience as input and direction is received from multiple sources and concerns. Transforming the narrative into a scope of deliverables is the start of the process moving from a dream to reality.
Themed Entertainment Design is a mix of theatrical and architectural techniques. As most immersive attractions are public and permanent space, the development efforts are subject to strenuous rules and regulations governing its development. Accommodating those requirements is one of
