RETURN & FAREWELL. Together with Philippe Étancelin (seated), Chinetti (standing) won
his second Le Mans in 1934, again with an Alfa Romeo 8C (2311249). It would not be
Chinetti’s last victory, but after three previous wins it would be the last time that an Alfa
Romeo took the overall top spot. The pit action shot illustrates the attire, the pace, and
the equipment involved in a fuel stop and driver change during the leather helmet era.
