2011 997.2 GT2 RS COUPE
The GT2 RS was the fastest Porsche of its day. Just 500 were built, 130 for the US and only 33 with both of the most desirable options – sports bucket seats and carbon-fiber front fenders. Its 3.6-liter, 620-bhp flat six drives only through the rear wheels. The front end grips well only after the tires are warmed up, recalling the nickname for the original 930 Turbo, “the widow-maker.” It reaches 60 mph in just under three seconds with a top speed over 200 mph.
2011 997.2 GT3 RS 4.0 COUPE
Launched in 2011, the 911 GT3 RS 4.0 was
the final evolution of the 997 GT3. This ultimate model was powered by a 4.0-liter engine, which incorporated the longer-stroke crankshaft from the RSR. Output increased to 493 bhp and torque to 339 lb-ft, the chassis and running gear being further developed to cope with the added power. This translated into a 0-60 mph time of 3.5 seconds and a top speed of 193 mph. Only 600 were built.
