symptoms have resolved for at least 48 hours. If the first test is negative a repeat test should
be done 24 hours later, and if that is negative the patient can come out of precautions if there
are no other indications. If the clearance testing is still positive repeat swabbing should be
done no more than 2 tests/week for determining the need for ongoing infection control
precautions.
