Designate Roles and Have a Clear Plan
De-escalation provided by the staff with the best rapport with patient
Minimize the number of people in the room to only those required to de-escalate
Minimize equipment taken into the room – restraints should remain outside the room until the decision is made to use
them. The restraint bag should not enter the room as it cannot be sterilized or cleaned.
